The Mary How Trust for Cancer Prevention is an independent, CQC registered, West Sussex charity. The Trust’s health screening service aims to spot the early signs of life-threatening illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, bowel cancer, prostate cancer, and abdominal aortic aneurysm. We receive no statutory funding from Government or the NHS. Our service is made possible by donations, grants and fundraising.

We have the following positions available to join our friendly, professional team:
Health & Wellbeing Nurse (Weekends)

We are seeking a part time Registered General Nurse to join our friendly professional team. This is an exciting time to join the Trust following a recent move to larger premises. You will be an essential part of our team and be responsible for screening clients effectively using own judgment and initiative to evaluate medical history, current health, and all screening results from the nurse appointment, including blood tests and well-being advice.

Person Specification
· First level NMC Registration, with at least 2 years post-registration experience
· Venepuncture experience
· ECG experience preferable
· Interest in promoting health & wellbeing and motivating clients towards a healthy lifestyle
· IT Skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Good organisational skills
· Able to work as part of a small team

Sonographer

Responsible for screening clients effectively using own judgment and initiative. If you have excellent communication skills, a professional manner and would be committed to providing high-quality practice to ensure our clients receive the best possible ultrasound screening experience then we want to hear from you.
Person Specification
- Appropriate qualifications, with at least 2 years post-registration experience
- Current HCPC or equivalent registration
- Competent in abdominal and gynecological scanning (we do not carry out obstetric scanning)
- Good report writing and IT Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational skills
- Interest in promoting health & wellbeing
- Able to work independently and as part of a small team
- Salary: Equivalent to NHS Band 7/8 depending on experience.
(days and hours to be agreed – contract or freelance)

Laboratory Scientist

We are seeking a Laboratory Scientist, who can work on their own initiative, to join our small friendly professional team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual. This is a zero hours contract for occasional cover.
Outline of the role:
To be competent and responsible for accurately analysing blood samples using various on-site equipment and liaise with screening nurses on the interpretation of results as necessary. Have a clear understanding of good laboratory practice and maintaining laboratory records.
Person Specification
· At least 2 years relevant/practical laboratory experience with HND or BMS qualification
· Professional registration – HCPC
· Competent in providing accurate blood results, performing manual and semi-automated laboratory investigations.
· Able to perform quality control procedures, to ensure machinery and laboratory instruments are tested and working accurately. Taking corrective action when these procedures indicate a loss of performance.
· Knowledge of clinical waste disposal
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Good organisational and IT skills
· Able to work as part of a small team
Receptionist (Part Time)

We are seeking a Part Time Receptionist to join our friendly professional team. The hours of work will be Saturday’s 8.30am – 2.30pm. Additional hours available for holiday cover. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to use their supervision and customer service skills to help in our development.
Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will be supporting the Trust in ensuring the Mary How Trust offers the highest standard of customer service within the Clinic.
Person Specification:
· Excellent customer service skills
· Experience of working to deadlines and targets
· Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload
· Excellent communication, interpersonal and IT Skills
· Able to work as part of a small team

Volunteer

As a Mary How Trust volunteer, you’ll meet wonderful people – and your time will help give people a brighter future. We have many volunteer roles, something to suit everyone.
Events Volunteers help plan our events and ensure they run smoothly. Would you like to help us organise an event? Can you help find sponsors and raffles prizes? Or could you just give a few hours on the day itself?
Coffee Mornings, Charity bag sales/car boots, Cricket matches, dinner dance, Splat and chat, auctions, fetes and more! The possibilities for fund raising are endless.
Shop volunteers help in our Charity shop and are a big part of the community.
Office volunteers help out in the Clinic, administration and reception duties.

Trustee

The Mary How Trust is seeking Trustees to join the Board.
The current Trustees provide a diverse range of skills and knowledge. However, the Charity is growing in size and stature, and, in consequence, we are looking to recruit new Trustees to our Board. This is an exciting time to join us as the Trust develops its future vision.
You will use your skills and experience gained from other sectors or roles, along with energy and enthusiasm, to guide the charity through exciting times. You will secure the governance of the organisation, contribute to our strategic future and act as an ambassador for all aspects of our work.
All candidates will need to demonstrate a strong passion and commitment to the charity, its values and objectives. A proven track record of sound judgement and effective decision making, strong inter-personal and relationship building abilities, tact and diplomacy, with the ability to listen and engage effectively.
We would particularly welcome people with Clinical/Medical, Law, Health & Safety/or Fundraising/Marketing experience, but this is not essential. We offer a tailored induction, the opportunity to learn new skills and the satisfaction that you are helping people in your local community.
