The Mary How Trust for Cancer Prevention is an independent, CQC registered, West Sussex charity. The Trust’s health screening service aims to spot the early signs of life-threatening illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, bowel cancer, prostate cancer, and abdominal aortic aneurysm. We receive no statutory funding from Government or the NHS. Our service is made possible by donations, grants and fundraising.

Chair of Trustees

Join the Mary How Trust Board and have a meaningful impact on the charity and its supporters.

The Chair of Trustees will promote the highest standards of corporate governance, offer constructive input, and demonstrate a strong passion and commitment to The Mary How Trust, its strategic objectives, and its cause.

As our Chair of Trustees, you will:

Provide effective leadership to the Board, operating at a strategic leadership level.

Oversee robust and compliant governance.

Build relationships with and support the CEO and Finance Trustee? in ensuring compliance with statutory and mandatory requirements, financial integrity with a focus on achieving the charity’s vision, mission and strategic direction.

Act as an ambassador and a public face of the charity in collaboration with the CEO and other members of the Board.

Chair and ensure the smooth running of meetings, including the AGM and the bi-monthly? Board and Management Operations meetings.

Lead Board development and foster strong and constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Be able to commit the necessary time to fulfil the role, which is expected to be circa 7-10 hours per month.

This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

The Chair will serve a three-year term and may be eligible for reappointment. The Chair is supported by the Vice-Chair.
