Police
The Mary How Trust is proud to be working in partnership with Surrey & Sussex Police on a pilot programme providing comprehensive preventative health screenings for police officers and staff.

Policing can place significant demands on physical and mental wellbeing. Through the programme, we are helping police personnel better understand their health, identify potential problems early and make positive changes to reduce future health risks.
The pilot has demonstrated a strong appetite for preventative healthcare and, importantly, is identifying health concerns that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.
Findings have included cardiovascular risk factors, abnormal ECG results, raised cholesterol and blood pressure, positive FIT results, and conditions identified through ultrasound scanning that required further investigation.
Building a healthier workforce
Anonymised findings are also helping Surrey & Sussex Police build a clearer picture of the health needs of their workforce and identify where future wellbeing initiatives could have the greatest impact.
Our clinical team has identified recurring themes including poor sleep associated with shift work, occupational stress, increased cardiovascular risk, elevated cholesterol, and dietary challenges linked to the demands of the job and shift patterns.
A service people value
Feedback has been extremely positive, with 100% of survey respondents describing our clinical team as professional, knowledgeable and friendly, and reporting that they felt comfortable and at ease during their screening.
The pilot demonstrates the value of investing proactively in workforce health. Through our partnership with Surrey & Sussex Police, the Mary How Trust is helping individuals take greater control of their health while showing the important role preventative health screening can play in workplace wellbeing.
