I feel compelled to share my journey and highlight the incredible work of the Mary How Trust.
Last year, I signed up for a cancer prevention screening with the Trust, a charity dedicated to detecting early stages of cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
To my surprise, the scan revealed a 9cm tumour in my left kidney, leading to an urgent referral and a CT scan. I hadn’t felt unwell at all, so the diagnosis was a shock for me and my family it was stage 2 cancer!
Fortunately, the kidney was successfully removed, and I needed no further treatment.
Now, just ten weeks later, I am back at work, fully supported by Brian, my family, and friends.
I share my story to emphasise the significance of the Mary How Trust’s mission. Their work relies on donations and people signing up for screenings.
I was gifted a skydiving experience for my birthday last year, and while I may not be ready to take that leap just yet, my stepson Phillip has generously volunteered to jump in my place this July (2026).
My family and I are eager to use this as an opportunity to raise awareness of the Mary How Trust.
Please consider signing up for this amazing charity; it could potentially save your life too.
